These Terms and Conditions set out the rules for using Registry r.nz, the platform for premium short r.nz domains and domain redirects. The summary below is a quick guide only. It is not part of the Terms and Conditions, and if anything in it differs from the numbered sections, the numbered sections apply.

Terms and Conditions at a Glance
Who can use r.nz
You must be at least 18 years old. By using the Service, you accept these Terms and Conditions and confirm you have read our Privacy Policy. See Sections 1 and 3.
Your r.nz name
Registry owns r.nz and every name under it. You can use your allocated name for personal or business purposes while your account stays active and in good standing. If your account expires, the name returns to the available pool. See Section 3.
Redirect updates
Each plan includes a set number of destination updates per month: 20 on the Basic Plan, 100 on the Medium Plan and 200 on the Developer/Agency Plan. See Section 12.3.
Fair use and abuse
Redirects to phishing, malware, spam or illegal content are not allowed, and we can suspend or remove any name or redirect that breaks our Fair Use and Anti-Abuse Policy. See Section 12.
1. Overview
These Terms and Conditions explain your rights and responsibilities when using the Registry r.nz Service. By accessing or using r.nz, you agree to these Terms and Conditions. If you do not agree, you must stop using the Service. You must be at least 18 years old to use r.nz.

- Service: The r.nz website and all related features

- Device: Any device capable of accessing the Service
- Third-party Social Media Service: External services or content integrated into r.nz
3. Accepting These Terms and Conditions
By using r.nz, you confirm that:
- You accept these Terms and Conditions
- You are at least 18 years old
- You have read and agree to our Privacy Policy
- You understand that the domain r.nz and all subdomains are owned by us
- You may use your allocated subdomain for personal or business purposes while your account remains active and in good standing
If your account expires, your rights to the subdomain end and it will be returned to the available pool for reallocation. We may disable any service used to redirect to illegal or harmful content. If you disagree with any part of these Terms and Conditions, you may not use the Service.
4. Using the Service
You agree to use r.nz responsibly, legally, and in compliance with our Fair Use and Anti-Abuse Policy (Section 12).
5. Third-Party Links
The Service may include links to external websites we do not control. We are not responsible for their content, privacy practices, or actions. Review the terms and privacy policies of any third-party sites you visit.
6. Ending Your Access
We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time if you violate these Terms and Conditions. When terminated, your right to use the Service ends immediately.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law:
- Our total liability is limited to the amount you paid us (if any)
- We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits, data loss, or business interruption
8. “As-Is” Service Disclaimer
The Service is provided as-is and as available. We do not guarantee:
- Continuous or uninterrupted operation
- Error-free performance
- Accuracy or completeness of information
- That the Service or communications from us are free from malware
9. Governing Law
These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
10. Resolving Disputes
If you have a concern or dispute, contact us first so we can attempt to resolve it informally.
11. Severability and Waivers
If any part of these Terms and Conditions is found invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Failure to enforce any right does not constitute a waiver of that right.
12. Fair Use, Traffic Limits and Anti-Abuse Policy
12.1 Monthly Traffic and Click Limits
If your usage exceeds the cost of providing the Service under your current plan, we may pause the Service or request that you upgrade.
12.2 Programmatic Abuse
We may throttle or suspend traffic if we detect:
- Botnets
- Automated scraping
- Infrastructure stress-testing
- Malware, phishing, virus-based, or harmful redirects
12.3 Redirect Modification Limits
To maintain system performance:
- Basic Plan: 20 updates/month
- Medium Plan: 100 updates/month
- Developer/Agency Plan: 200 updates/month
12.4 Prohibited Destinations
You may not use r.nz to redirect to:
- Phishing or identity-theft sites
- Malware or harmful downloads
- Spam or fast-flux networks
- Illegal content or IP-infringing material
12.5 Contact
If you have questions about your Service, contact us through our website’s contact page.
12.6 Enforcement
We may suspend, terminate, or delete any subdomain or redirect without notice if it violates this policy or threatens the integrity of the .nz registry.
13. Changes to These Terms and Conditions
We may update these Terms and Conditions at any time. If changes are significant, we will provide at least 30 days’ notice before they take effect.

Do I own my r.nz name?
No. Section 3 explains that Registry owns the domain r.nz and all names under it. You have the right to use your allocated name while your account remains active and in good standing.

What happens if my account expires?

How many times can I change my redirect each month?

What can’t I redirect to?
Section 12.4 lists the prohibited destinations: phishing or identity-theft sites, malware or harmful downloads, spam or fast-flux networks, and illegal content or IP-infringing material.
Can my access or my name be suspended?
Yes. Section 6 allows us to suspend or terminate access if these Terms and Conditions are violated, and Section 12.6 explains when we may suspend, terminate or delete a name or redirect.
What if my traffic is higher than my plan allows?
Section 12.1 explains that if your usage exceeds the cost of providing the Service under your current plan, we may pause the Service or ask you to upgrade.
Are other websites covered by these Terms and Conditions?
No. Section 5 explains that we do not control external websites linked from the Service and are not responsible for their content, privacy practices or actions.
Which law applies to these Terms and Conditions?
Section 9 says these Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of New Zealand.
Will I be told if the terms change?
Section 13 says we may update the terms at any time, and we will give at least 30 days’ notice before significant changes take effect.
